Burke Flooring brings tired floors back to like-new condition with 99% dustless sanding, custom staining, and modern water-based polyurethane finishes that cure in days instead of weeks. Once a floor is sanded back to raw wood, the stain options really open up - whitewashed, natural, grey, fumed, classic mid-tone oak, rich espresso. We bring sample boards stained in your own wood species so you can judge the color under your home's actual lighting. Top coats range from matte to satin to semi-gloss in water-based (low odor, fast cure) or oil-based polyurethane.

Our sanders connect to commercial HEPA vacuums that capture nearly all of the dust right at the source. Paired with plastic containment between rooms, the mess you'd expect from a refinish job largely doesn't happen. Hardwood Refinishing - frequently asked questions
Solid hardwood can be refinished 5-7 times over its lifetime. Engineered hardwood with a 3mm+ wear layer can be refinished 1-2 times. We confirm the wear-layer thickness during your in-home assessment.
Water-based polyurethane is walkable in 4-6 hours and fully cured in 7 days. Oil-based needs 24 hours before light foot traffic and 14-30 days for full cure. We build the schedule around your household.
Surface water marks usually sand out completely. Deep black stains where water sat for weeks may call for board replacement before refinishing - we'll tell you which during the on-site assessment.
Yes - full sanding takes the floor back to raw wood, and from there we can stain it any modern color including grey, whitewash, espresso, or fumed European looks.
